Redbird Soccer Remains Unbeaten in Conference Play

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Soccer took on UIC on Sunday evening at Adelaide Street Field for a Missouri Valley Conference matchup. The Redbirds record sat at 2-0-3 in conference play coming into the contest, being unbeaten.
The game resulted in the Redbirds sixth draw in a row, extending their unbeaten conference streak up to 6 games. This marked the 10th shutout of the season for the Birds and Madi Valenti’s 14th career shutout. This puts her at 5th all time in shutouts in Redbird Soccer history.
Illinois State was able to find some good scoring chances early on with 2 corner kicks and 2 shots in the first 20 minutes but there were no real chances after the first half.
Madi Valenti, who has been excellent all season, was able to put a stop to the Flames scoring chances in the second half, getting 2 saves and keeping the game scoreless with the final being 0-0.
Illinois State’s overall record now sits at 5-4-7 with a conference record of 2-0-4. Their next match will be Thursday evening against Drake with the game time being at 4 pm at Adelaide Street Field
