NORMAL, Ill. – This past Saturday, Illinois State took on Missouri State at Hancock Stadium. Last time out, the Redbirds picked up a huge win, 45-10, against Southern Illinois.
At the beginning of the game, the Bears put points on the board first with a touchdown. The Redbirds dug themselves in a hole straight out of the game. They followed up with a fumble recovery touchdown, and after a field goal, they went up 17-0.
To close out the first half, the Redbirds struggled on offense and gave up a touchdown. ISU went into the second half down 24-0.
Opening up the third quarter, the Bears would score a touchdown and push the lead to 31-0. The Redbirds would get their first points of the game with a rushing touchdown by running back Wenkers Wright.
The Redbirds would lose this game 41-7 and move to 4-3 on the season. Quarterback Jake Rubley would get the majority of the snaps and throw for 167 yards. Turnovers were the Achilles heel in this one for the Redbirds, including an offense that looked like a shell of itself from previous weeks.
ISU will take on Murray State next Saturday, October 19th, on the road.
