NORMAL, Ill. – All levels of Redbird hockey were in action this weekend, as D1 faced Midland, D2 took on Indiana Tech, D3 faced off against Central Michigan, and ISU Roller played Lindenwood, Maryville, and Purdue.

D1 came out strong to start the weekend, with an impressive 6-3 win over Midland University. Captain Tony Campise and Forward Ethan Chesney both had a 3-point nights in the Redbird’s win. Game 2 was closer, but the Redbirds still pulled away with a 3-1 win. Goalie Brendan Donovan saved 42 out of 43 shots and had an assist in the second win.

D2 started slow in their first game, going down 1-3 in the first period. But after the first it was all Redbirds as they scored 3 unanswered goals to win the game 4-3. Game 2 was even better, as after scoring 4 goals in the second period they kept pouring it on, winning 8-4. Forward Michael Ryndak had a goal and 3 assists in the dominant second win for the Redbirds.

D3 was not as successful as their D1 or D2 counterparts, as they blown out 1-6 in their first game. The second game was not any better than the first, as they were shut out 0-7. Forward Sam Satangelo had the only goal for D3 on the weekend.

The Roller Hockey team traveled to St. Louis to play in the 3 final in-conference match-ups. The Redbirds came out slow on the weekend, losing big to Lindenwood 10-0. Their second opponent, Kansas State, forfeited the match, so instead the Redbirds received a win and played an exhibition game against Maryville, in which they lost 3-1. The Redbirds had enough of losing after that, however, as they were dominant against Purdue winning 17-1, the biggest win margin of the season for the Birds.

Next weekend will continue to keep the Redbird busy, as all 4 teams will be back in action. D1 will travel to face Northern Illinois for the final time, D2 will travel to take on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, D3 will go to Drake University to play their games, and Roller Hockey will head to Palatine to play Ohio State, Michigan State, and Slippery Rock.
