The Lumineers- Automatic

The very well-loved Lumineers released a new album on Valentine’s Day called “Automatic” and it’s already a hit for so many. There are 11 songs on this album with great lyrics and lots more. The Lumineers haven’t released an album since 2022, so to see them back in the music spotlight made me very happy!

We all know and love their sound from songs like Cleopatra and Ophelia from their earlier albums and this new album certainly followed in those footsteps. In their first song on the album, “Same Old Song” you can instantly recognize that it’s a Lumineers song because of the drum pattern and the lead singer’s very recognizable voice. It’s comforting to hear new music from an artist I listened to as a kid because they didn’t stray too far from their original sound. Throughout the album, there are some great lyrics that tug at your heartstrings and each song can tell a story to the listener.

My favorite song off this album was “Plasticine” because I thought the lyrics were so beautiful, meaningful and relatable. The lyrics “Plasticine, I can bend into any way you need” really hit hard because a lot of people can relate to the feeling of people pleasing or feeling like they are being spread thin by life. Another part I liked was that they put in an audio clip from the movie “When Harry Met Sally” and it related very well with the lyrics of the song. It was cool to hear them incorporate that small movie clip into their song.

Overall this album is definitely worth the listen if you love the old lumineers songs like I do!
