In this week’s episode of Second Look, WZND’s Rachael Deerfield and Jason Zaehler looked at Bloomington’s “Grab a Cone” community enhancement event, Bloomington Ice Center’s “Return to the Rink,” the Children’s Discovery Museum’s new director of education, local news, redbird football, and a preview of the first NFL Sunday.
Beginning the show, WZND’s June Delahunty interviewed Kathrine Murphy, the communication and External Affairs Manager of the city of Bloomington regarding the community event where locals could interact with city inspectors and enjoy Kona Ice. (0:50)
Next, Gigi Escobedo spoke with the executive director of the Children’s Discovery Museum in Normal regarding Katie Keller being named the new director of education. (2:25)
After a break, Kaitlyn Witas’ interview with Bloomington Ice Center’s Michael Hernbrott about the Return to the Rink free skate event which happened on Saturday. (5:03)
Rachael and Jason then dived into local news regarding Illinois governor JB Pritzker’s words of encouragement to Chicagoans regarding the increased presence of Immigration enforcement, Illinois State having another year of enrollment records broken, and the Normal Public Library’s Summer renovations.
After the break Redbird Football Head coach Brock Spack speaks on the return of running back Mason King from Adam Tichler. (10:30)
Rachael and Jason then spoke on the Redbird’s performance in their 41-13 win over Morehead state and closed out the show speaking on the first weekend of the NFL’s regular season, and the Chicago Cubs playoff push in MLB.
