Before I Forget- The Kid Laroi Album Review

Kendall Eades February 9, 2026

Australian rapper and singer, The Kid Laroi, released his new and anticipated album “Before I Forget” on January 9, 2026.

The Kid Laroi was first known to the industry from his hit song that blew up on Tiktok in 2020  titled “Without You”. He is also known for his close work with rapper Juice Wrld and Justin Bieber. Songs like “Go” featuring Juice Wrld, “Stay” featuring Justin Bieber, “Thousand Miles”, and “Love Again” in Laroi’s discography have helped him become a young and recognizable artist.

“Before I Forget” is an album that holds lots of stories related to Laroi’s recent public breakup with pop singer and dancer, Tate McRae. As a fan of both, they know how to write and release amazing songs out of a situation such as a breakup.

“A Cold Play” and “A Perfect World” were the first two singles leading up to the album. “A Cold Play” released on September 5 2025, started a song battle between Laroi and McRae. The lyrics in the chorus “But it’s my fault for thinking I could fix you, fix you, fix you, fix you” in “A Cold Play” were what Tate McRae played off of in her response song “Tit For Tat” which came out a couple weeks later on September 26, 2025. In her song she took those lyrics and said “Fix your F**** self kiss my a** for that”. This song battle sparked the media and fans who had been confused on their relationship status and sadly confirmed their breakup.

Some of my favorite types of songs Laroi produces are his raw and sad songs . My top favorite songs from this album are “Never Came Back” and “Maybe I’m Wrong” because they fit in that category.

An honorable mention for me would be ‘Rather Be”. This song is very rap focused and sounds like it could fit into his last album “The First Time” from 2023 which is still personally my favorite album. He really goes into depth here on how he’s yearning for his old relationship. But, he adds details of how he’s frustrated that they aren’t together because he’s looking at the little things that were great.

Overall, I am amazed by this album and Laroi once again. I appreciate that all of his albums can tell the most emotional stories and have a concept of both upbeat and relaxed songs to really grasp all of the emotions. If you need to listen to yearning music, this album is for you.
