Opening Night: BCPA Concert Series connecting the Community

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Tonight kicks off a multi-week online concert series hosted by the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.

The concert series named “Your Dinner and Our Show” is a virtual show presented by the Friends of the BCPA. The purpose of the series to bring the arts to the community in their home.

The series is also working to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal (BGCBN).

The development manager for the BCPA, Cara Peterson says the series will provide family-friendly entertainment.

“Even though many of us are home and isolated, these shows will give us the opportunity to connect us to each other again. We are all sharing the heavy impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Peterson.

The series will be raising money through donations during the live streams for BGCBN. They are partnering with local businesses, supporters and volunteers to provide grab & go lunches to children and providing Food Boxes to families.

They will also launch a Virtual Club Experience, that will allow kids to engage with educational and creative virtual programs.

The series will be showcasing local artists on Facebook Live.

Peterson says she was inspired to create the series after seeing a rise in popularity of live, virtual entertainment.

“We have so much talent right here in Bloomington-Normal and what better way to support our local arts community while supporting those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Peterson.

The concert will be live-streaming every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. on Friends of the BCPA Facebook page.
