Normal Town Council Keeps it Brief

NORMAL, Ill. – The Normal Town Council held their first council meeting of the month on October 2.
The meeting was brief, featuring little beyond regular business under the agenda. The items under this cumulative agenda were passed unanimously. Council Member Chemberly Harris was absent from the meeting.
Council Member Kathleen Lorenz asked about the $10,150 given to the Illinois Art Station. City Manager Pamela Reece explained was payment for a collaboration between the town’s museum and the organization where they were sourced for staffing.
Among the items passed in the meeting was a resolution to contract a local construction firm to maintain certain historical sites within the town. Council Member Karyn Smith asked some clarifying questions, to which Reece explained some specifics of the resolution. The goal is to complete repairs on local historical landmarks the Hewett House, Sprague’s Service Station and Broadview Mansion.
In other business, the council:
- Authorized the purchase of three 2024 Ford F250 4×4 Pickup Trucks for use by the town.
- Authorized the sale of the town property at 1210 S. Adelaide St.
- Heard comments from a speaker from St. Jude thanking the town for their support during a recent local charity run.
The next town council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on October 16.
