Normal Police Search for Suspect after Reports of Sexual Assault and Home Invasion

NORMAL, Ill. – The Normal Police Department is actively searching for the suspected assailant in a home invasion where a resident was sexually assaulted and another was held at knifepoint.
At approximately 7:16 a.m. today the NPD responded to reports of a home invasion on the 200 block of West Willow Street in Normal. Upon investigation, the police were told that the suspect entered an unlocked apartment occupied by two tenants. One was sexually assaulted and the other was threatened with a knife.
The apartment complex released a statement to the residents acknowledging the incident and reminding them of standard safety protocols at around 4:30 p.m. today. The NPD released a statement detailing what happened a few hours later. Another email was sent to Illinois State University students and faculty at 7:22 p.m. also making the campus aware of the incident.
The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall Black male in his mid-20s with short black hair and brown eyes. He was seen wearing a black trucker hat with a white icon, silver earrings, a black short-sleeved button-up, a white T-shirt, tan pants and black Nike shoes.
