ISU Women’s Soccer Stomps Out Purdue Fort Wayne in Home Win

NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State Women’s Soccer picked up its third win of the 2026 season after thrashing Purdue Fort Wayne 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field.

The Redbirds dominated the contest from the opening whistle with four shots on goal in the first four minutes. PFW struggled to recover from the early pressure and only managed two shots by the 27th minute. Maggie Dowling scored in the 36th minute to open the scoring for the Redbirds.

Four minutes later, Kaya Durkee scored to double the Redbirds’ lead. Ava Watson added a third goal three minutes later to extend the lead. It was the first goal of the season for all three players

Purdue Fort Wayne was second best in every statistic except for saves. Mastodons goalkeeper Same Christie made five saves compared to the two saves made by ISU’s Madi Velenti.

The Redbirds improved to 3-1-3 after the victory. The Mastadons have yet to win a game and fell to 0-5-1 after the loss; they will play Saint Xavier in Chicago Sunday, September 13.

As for Illinois State, they will take a road trip to Charleston, Illinois to take on Eastern Illinois Thursday, September 10, at 3 pm.
