NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State women’s basketball is on the road in Chicago today as the Redbirds take on former Missouri Valley Conference member Loyola Chicago. The two programs will meet for the 26th time in series history, and it marks the first time since 2022 that the Redbirds and Ramblers will face each other. Illinois State holds a 17–8 all-time advantage in the series.
The Redbirds enter the matchup with a 2–1 record, earning wins over Dayton and Chicago State. Loyola comes in at 1–3 on the season as the Ramblers look to bounce back on their home floor.
Through the first three games, ISU has relied on a balanced offensive attack. Forward Nevaeh Thomas leads the Redbirds in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game off the bench, while Addison Martin is close behind at 14 points per game. In total, four Illinois State players are averaging double figures to open the season.
On the boards, Doneelah Washington has been a standout, pulling down nearly eight rebounds per game. Meanwhile, sophomore guard Trista Fayta leads the team in assists, helping pace a Redbird offense that has shown strong ball movement early in the year.
The 26th meeting between Illinois State and Loyola Chicago is set to tip off tonight at 6 p.m. in Chicago.
