NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State University’s Planetarium is back in full swing with two new shows open to the public. Planetarium Director Thomas Willmitch spoke on the two news shows about what’s on the horizon for the Planetarium.
‘The new shows that are open to the public are ‘Mars: The Ultimate Voyage’ and ‘Mysteries of Your Brain,'” Willmitch said. “The Mars show is about what it takes to actually make the two year round trip to Mars and back again and the challenges you will face. The Mysteries of your Brain show is family oriented and is about how your Brain works and how you perceive the world today.”
The new shows may both share a theme of scientific discovery, but no two shows are quite the same.
‘Every show is different in its own way because every show has a different meaning to it and a different lesson and story behind it. Willmitch said “.
Willmitch also revealed the future plans for the planetarium.
” We don’t have anything finalized yet, but we are working hard to have a show open to the public for ISU sibling weekend in April, so people can be on the lookout for that,” Willmitch said.
“Mars: The Ultimate Voyage” will be running on Friday’s and Saturday’s at 7:30 p.m., and “Mysteries of Your Brain” will be running on Saturdays at 2 p.m. Both of the shows will run indefinitely.
