NORMAL Ill. – Feb. 23 marks the fifth annual Illinois State University Redbirds Give Back Campaign during Redbird Philanthropy Week.
The goal behind the event is to allow everyone hailing from ISU, both current student and past, to engage in philanthropy with a cause they identify with.
ISU provides a wide range of categories donors can put their funds towards, all the way from Milner Library to the ISU Multicultural Center.
ISU has set their sights high for their fifth annual event, with the goal for this year set at 3,000 gifts in 24 hours. As it currently stands just under $352,000 have been raised with more than half of the gift goal achieved with 2,247 gifts from donors.
Vice President of University Advancement, Pat Vickerman stated his excitement to hopefully topping last year’s previous gift totals.
“We would love to see a new record,” stated Vickerman.
In 2022 the School of Communication received the most gifts of any category with 328 donations. ISU Athletics placed second with 192 gifts and the Multicultural Center rounded out the top-three donor choices with 158 gifts bestowed.
ISU made the most of getting the event out to current students and alumni alike through their social media presence.
“Social media has become a really popular way of sharing information with everyone,” stated Vickerman.
