Illinois State Women’s Golf Looks To Place High at Loyola Parkinson Invitational

NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbirds Women’s Golf Team heads to Libertyville, IL, to play in the Loyola Parkinson Invitational hosted by Loyola-Chicago University. 

The Redbirds have been off to a hot start this season, finishing first at the Redbird Invitational and third at the Johnie Imes Invitational. ISU is led by graduate student Jinyoung Yun, who will start on Hole 5 and has an average score of 71.2. Yun tied for first with fellow teammate Morgan Jones in the Redbird Invitational earlier this year. 

Redshirt Junior Morgan Jones has averaged 71.8 through her first five rounds of the season. Jones won MVC Golfer of the Week with teammate Jinyoung Yun after their performances at the Redbird Invitational. 

Freshman Alex Sparrow will be teeing off on Hole 4 with teammate Morgan Jones as Sparrow looks to continue her impressive freshman season. Sparrow has averaged 75.4 this season through her first five rounds of play, with her lowest round being 72. 

Another freshman will be hitting the course as Elise Fennell competes in Libertyville. Fennell has averaged a 73.8 so far this season, her lowest round being a 71. Fennell tied for sixth place at the Redbird Invitational and looks to do better than that this week as she will tee off on Hole 3.

The final Redbird competing this week is another freshman, Jessica Jolly. Jolly has averaged 73.6 this season and has a lowest of 70. Jolly finished fourth at the Redbird Invitational and will start on Hole 2.

The Redbirds will tee off at 8:30 am. The invitational will take place on Monday and Tuesday.
