NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State soccer ended its 2026 regular season yesterday at home in a scoreless match against Valparaiso.

This result sees the Redbirds  locked into the third seed in the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

With the draw, Valparaiso narrowly missed the conference tournament, finishing with a final record of 6-8-4 and 2-4-3 in conference play.

The Redbirds finish the season with a record of 9-3-6 overall whilst being 4-2-3 in conference games.

This game was much bigger then a draw however, as the Redbirds  unbeaten home streak of 16 games is now tied for the the third-longest active street in the in all of NCAA division 1 sports.

The Redbirds outshot Valparaiso 16-10 with 9 shots on target but just struggled to find the back of the net.

Like a broken record, again Madi Valenti’s efforts must be highlighted. Valenti had 5 saves in what was her 25th shutout performance just 1 shy of the program record.

On the other side of the field, Valparaiso’s goal keeper Salange Bell was a standout for the Beacons. Bell kept a clean sheet and had 9 saves of her own.

Illinois state will host No. 6 Evansville in the quarter finals at 1:00pm this Sunday afternoon at home in Adelaide Street Field.
