Illinois State Soccer Seek Revenge In Road Matchup Against UIC

NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State soccer wraps up their four-game road stretch on Sunday as they travel to Chicago to play conference rival UIC. 

The Redbirds are coming off a historic start to their season, losing only one non-conference game for the first time in program history.

The team is currently 6-1-3, and coming off a win against Murray State last week. The 1-0 victory was the team’s third straight road win, increasing their total win streak to four games.

UIC’s current record is 1-6-2, their worst record since 2022. While the Redbirds are the favorite to win the match, the matchup history appears to even things up.

The teams have played eight times in nine years, with UIC holding a 4-2-2 record over the Redbirds. The last time ISU beat the Flames was in 2018. 

The most recent matchup between ISU and UIC was in the Missouri Valley Conference Finals. After a scoreless tie at the final whistle, the game went to penalty kicks, where ISU lost 2-1 at home. 

The Flames have scored four times in the past two games, so the Redbirds will be relying on goalkeeper Madi Valenti to keep them in the game. Valenti was named the MVC Goalkeeper of the Week following her five save performance in ISU’s 1-0 victory over Murray State. The win marked her fourth shoutout of the season. 

The game will kick off at Flames Field at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
