Illinois State Men’s Tennis Invitational Results, Women’s Tennis Upcoming Matches

NORMAL, Ill. -Over the weekend, Illinois State Men’s Tennis hosted their Redbird Invitational at Gregory Street Courts. Redbirds took home several wins on the first day and swept in singles on day two.
On day one, in doubles the Redbirds won three of the matches to begin the day. The duo of senior Tomas Valencia and sophomore Christian Cappacci won 6-0 over IU Indy. The No. 2 team duo senior Adrian Dibildox and sophomore Manuel Pavia picked up a win over another pair from IU Indy with a final of 6-3. Finally, in doubles action senior pair Caden Scarlett and Jett Leong defeated Marquette by a score of 6-4 as the No. 4 team.
In singles action Illinois State took home six of eight matches with Valencia, Capacci, Dibildox, Leong, Scarlett, and Tin Ostro picking up straight-set wins. In round two of singles, the Redbirds won six of the seven matches which included Valencia, Capacci, Dibildox, Leong, Scarlett, and Pavia over NIU.
On day two of the invitational, Illinois State went 10-2 on the final day of action. Once again the day began with double actions as the Redbirds swept the first found against Marquette and NIU. Valenica and Capacci defeated the duo from Marquette by a score of 6-3 at the no. one spot. Louge and Scarlett picked up a 6-4 win while Ostro and Leong beat the pair from NIU with a score of 6-1. In the second round of doubles, no. one team Valencia and Dibildox were winners alongside Capacci and Pavia at the no two spot. Also, Logue and Scarlett earned themselves a win after defeating their opponents 6-1.
In singles action on the final day, Illinois State went 8-0 to finish off the weekend strong. Redbird Men’s Tennis will continue on October 16th as they head to Chicago for the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by DePaul University.
Illinois State Women’s Tennis was off this weekend after they hosted their Redbird Invitational last weekend. Their next match is set for October 16th-19th at the University of Illinois.
