NORMAL, Ill. — It was another exciting week of IHSA football in the Bloomington-Normal area last Friday night. In wee seven, the five teams in the area went a combined 2-3 in a series of exciting matchups.
Normal Community High School is now 7-0 as it continues to dominate the Big Twelve conference. The Ironmen took down Neuqua Valley last week by a score of 46-13. They will now face off with 3-4 Centennial, looking to improve to 8-0 before their final game against undefeated Normal West.
Normal West is also coming off a win, blowing out Danville 58-7. The Wildcats will take on 2-5 Richwoods as they look to build momentum heading into playoffs. The Wildcat defense has allowed only 79 points all year, setting up the offense for success.
University High School is now 1-6 after losing to a strong Rochester squad. The Pioneers will take on another tough opponent in Jacksonville at home this week. The Pioneers sit fourth in their conference and will look to close out a disappointing season on a strong note.
Bloomington Central Catholic is coming off a shootout loss to St. Joseph-Ogden by a score of 54-42. The Saints are now 5-2 heading into Friday night. They will take on Pontiac at home, looking to get back in the win column. The Saints sit third in the Illini Prairie conference.
Bloomington High School is coming off a devastating loss to Peoria Notre Dame, falling 29-28. The Purple Raiders are now 4-3 as they try to sneak into the IHSA playoffs. They will take on Champaign Central at home this week before traveling to Mahomet-Seymour next week.
It should be yet another exciting week of IHSA football in the Bloomington-Normal area as we creep closer to the playoffs.
