NORMAL, Ill. -Round 2 of the IHSA State Playoffs did not bode so well for the teams here in Bloomington/Normal. The dance to the state championship is sadly over.

Bloomington Central Catholic fell to Monmouth Roseville in a heartbreaker 29-28. The undefeated Saints have been riding high all season long, defeating every opponent with ease. But this week, their luck finally ran out. Congratulations to Bloomington Central Catholic on an unbelievable season.

Bloomington’s dance ended this week, in a loss to Oak Forest 34-14. With a record of 7-4, the Purple Raiders had a lot of highs and lows this season. They started out 4-0, but hit a few bumps in the road along the way. The Purple Raiders fought until the end, congratulations on a very impressive season.

Normal West fell to Simeon 36-21, ending their run. The Wildcats finished with a record of 8-3, coming into this game with a six-game winning streak. They were one of the hottest teams in Illinois, and were a real threat to go all the way to the state title game. Congratulations to the Wildcats on an amazing season.

All three of these teams gave it their all, and showed no quit at any point during this season. Again, congratulations to all three of these teams, and all other teams in the Bloomington/Normal area.

This is the conclusion of our IHSA football stories for the year. On behalf of myself, Adam Tichler, and Nick Thompson, thank you for following along on wznd.com.
