IHSA Football Week 2 Recap

NORMAL, Ill. — With the IHSA football season now in full swing, the teams in Bloomington-Normal are putting their foot on the gas.

Bloomington Central Catholic continued its strong regular season play, defeating Illinois Valley Central 41-6 this week. The Saints improve to 2-0 and are coming off a 9-0 season in 2025. Their next game is against at home against 1-1 Tolono Unity.

Normal West showed up and showed out this week, with a 51-12 win over Champaign Central. The Wildcats are showing no signs of slowing down, coming off a 7-2 season and now starting 2026 2-0. Next week, they face off against undefeated Centennial at home.

Bloomington bounced back in a big way this week. The Purple Raiders defeated Urbana 46-0 after a rough week one performance against Normal Community. The Purple Raiders are now 1-1 and are set to play Manual at home next week. Manual has lost eleven consecutive games.

University High’s early struggles continue, with a 63-18 loss against Mahomet-Seymour. The 0-2 Pioneers are looking for answers as they head into next week’s matchup against 1-1 Glenwood in their first home game of the season. Glenwood is coming off a very impressive 9-0 season.

Normal Community is looking to make a statement this season. The Ironmen improved to 2-0 with their 62-0 win over Manual this week. Their next game is on the road against 1-1 Richwoods. Richwoods went 1-7-1 in 2025.
