IHSA Boys and Girls Basketball Recap March 3rd

NORMAL, Ill.- For the remaining teams in Bloomington/Normal, the playoffs are here! Some seasons came to an end, but others continue to shine.
Girls Basketball
UHigh’s very successful season came to a close this past week. They lost to Hamilton in the IHSA regional 49-47 on February 24. The Pioneers had an overall record of 25-7. Congratulations to UHigh on a great year!
Bloomington laced up their shoes for the final time this week. The Purple Raiders fell to Lincoln 44-39 in overtime in the IHSA regional to end their season. They had an overall record of 12-19. Congratulations to the Purple Raiders on a great season!
Boys Basketball
Normal Community is on a roll right now, going 2-0 in and winning the IHSA regional this week. The Ironmen defeated Pekin 78-33 on February 25. They then pulled out a close one 55-54 over United Township. The Ironmen’s next game is March 3 against Rock Island in the IHSA sectional. Their overall record is 26-7 so far this season.
UHigh went 2-0 this week in the regional. The Pioneers defeated Danville 65-51 on February 25. Then they beat Champaign Central 58-54 on February 27. The Pioneers’ next game is March 4 against Springfield at 7 p.m. Their overall record is 27-6.
Central Catholic ended their season this week. The Saints won their first game in the regional against Macomb 52-43 on February 25. Then in the second game on February 27, they lost 62-29 to Tri Valley. The Saints overall record was 18-13. Congratulations to Central Catholic on a great year!
Bloomington had a rough end to their year. The Purple Raiders, who had been struggling all year, lost to Champaign Central 62-57 on February 25. Their overall record was 10-20. Congratulations to Bloomington on a great year!
Normal West danced for the last time this past week. The Wildcats lost to Centennial 59-55 on February 25. Their overall record was 7-22 this year. Congratulations to the Wildcats on a great season!
