IHSA Boys and Girls Basketball Recap January 27

NORMAL, Ill.-There was a lot of action this week for the teams here in Bloomington/Normal. Here’s the full breakdown:

Girls Basketball

Normal Community had a rollercoaster of a week, going 1-1. The Iron defeated Peoria Manual in a great game 57-48 on January 23. Then the day after on January 24, they had a tough game, losing to Lincoln Way West 62-31. The Iron look to get back on track this Friday January 3o against Bloomington High School at 6 p.m.

UHigh also went 1-1 this week. The Pioneers started their week off on January 22 against Mahomet-Seymour, losing 47-43. On Saturday, January 24, they defeated Decatur St. Theresa 40-28. The Pioneers’ next game is Friday, January 30, against Lanphier at 7 p.m.

Central Catholic had a great week, going 2-0. The Saints defeated Paxton-Buckley-Loda on January 20, by a large margin of 62-25. Then on January 22, they defeated Pontiac 56-50. The Saints’ next game is on January 27 against Unity High School at 7 p.m.

Bloomington didn’t find the success they were hoping for this week, going 1-2. The Purple Raiders lost to MacArthur 73-53 on January 21. Then they lost to Normal West 50-37 on January 23. The Purple Raiders defeated Limestone 60-40 on January 24. Their next game is January 30 against Normal Community at 6 p.m.

Normal West went 2-0 this week in back-to-back games. On January 23, the Wildcats defeated Bloomington 50-37. Then on January 24, they took down Bradley-Bourbonnais 63-39. The Wildcats’ next game is January 27 against Morton at 7 p.m.

Boys Basketball

Normal Community had two tough games this week, going 1-1. On January 23, the Ironmen defeated Peoria Manual 56-50. The next day they lost 46-44 to Metamora Highschool. The Ironmen’s next game is Friday, January 30, against Bloomington High School at 7:30 p.m.

UHigh kept their hot streak going in their one game against Central Catholic. The Pioneers defeated Central Catholic 68-63 on January 24. Their next game is Tuesday, January 27 against La Salle-Peru Township at 7 p.m.

Central Catholic didn’t have the best week, going 1-2. On January 20, the Saints started on a good note, defeating Paxton-Buckley-Loda 55-41. Then on January 23, they lost to Pontiac 66-60. On January 24, the Saints lost to UHigh 68-63. Their next game is January 27 against Unity High School at 7 p.m.

Bloomington had a split this week, going 1-1. On January 20, the Purple Raiders fell to Lincoln 61-42. Then on January 23, they defeated Normal West 69-52. The Purple Raiders next game is January 27 against Mahomet Seymour.

Normal West went 1-1 this week. The Wildcats defeated Mt. Zion in a close one 53-50 on January 20. On January 23 they lost to Bloomington 69-51. The Wildcats’ next game is January 30 against Peoria at 7 p.m.
