IHSA Boys and Girls Basketball Recap February 9

NORMAL, Ill.-There was a lot of great games for the teams in Bloomington/Normal this week. Here’s the full breakdown:

Girls Basketball

Normal Community had four games this week. Their record is now 15-16 after a 2-2 week. The Iron defeated Danville 67-36 on February 3. On February 5, they took down Springfield Southeast 55-50. The next day the Iron fell to Richwoods 60-49. Then on February 9, they lost to Mahomet-Seymour in the last game of the regular season. The Iron’s next game is not until the Moline IHSA regional on February 17.

UHigh went 2-1 this week to improve their overall record to 16-13. The Pioneers fell to Limestone 44-35 on February 5. Then on February 7, they defeated Sacred Heart-Griffin 53-45. On February 9, the Pioneers defeated Fieldcrest 62-37. Their next game is February 10 against Glenwood at 7 p.m.

Central Catholic went 1-2 this week, dropping their record down to 15-11. The Saints were defeated by Illinois Central Valley on February 3 63-60. Then on February 3, they took down Monticello 48-42. The Saints then lost to Teutropolis 54-45 on February 6. Their next game is February 12 against Eureka at 7 p.m.

Bloomington’s non ideal season continues with an 0-2 week to make their record 9-18. The Purple Raiders lost to Peoria Notre Dame 66-39 on February 3. Then on February 5, they fell to Lincoln 36-30. The Purple Raiders next game is February 10 against Centennial at 5:30 p.m.

Normal West impressed yet again in their one game this week, improving their record to 21-8. The Wildcats defeated Manual 45-35 on February 6. Their next game is February 10 against Peoria Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m.

Boys Basketball

Normal Community had a great week, going 3-0 to improve their record to 22-5. The Ironmen defeated Danville on February 3 64-43. Then on February 6, they took down Richwoods 60-48. The next day on February 7, the Ironmen beat Moline 59-52. Their next game is February 10 at 7:30 p.m. against Pekin.

UHigh continues to prove they are the team to beat, extending their win streak to 13 games this week. They went 3-0, improving their overall record to 23-4. The Pioneers defeated Sacred Heart-Griffin 73-47 on February 3. Then on February 6, they beat Glenwood 44-23. The Pioneers finished the week by taking down Bismarck-Henning 66-48 on February 8. Their next game is February 10 against Dunlap at 7 p.m.

Central Catholic had a perfect 2-0 week to improve their record to 15-12. The Saints took down Illinois Central Valley 58-54 on February 3. Then on February 6, they beat Monticello 63-48. The Saints next game is February 10 against Rantoul at 7 p.m.

Bloomington went 1-1 this week, making their record 10-17. On February 3, the Purple Raiders defeated Peoria Notre Dame 62-57. Then they fell to Jacksonville 82-58 on February 6. Their next game is February 10 against Centennial at 7 p.m.

Normal West had a rough week, going 0-2 to lower their record to 7-18. The Wildcats fell to Galesburg 60-47 on February 3. Then on February 6, they lost to Manual 76-44. The Wildcats next game is February 10 against Peoria Notre Dame at 7 p.m.
