IHSA Boys and Girls Basketball Recap February 2

NORMAL, Ill.-The teams here in Bloomington/Normal played some great basketball this week. Here’s the full breakdown:
Girls Basketball
Normal Community went 1-1 this week in two very different games. On Friday January 30, the Iron defeated Bloomington High School 48-33. The next day on January 31, they fell to Joliet Central 42-23. The Iron’s next game is Tuesday February 3 against Danville at 6 p.m.
UHigh continued their 4 game hot streak, going 2-0 this week. In a close game vs Lincoln on January 30, the Pioneers came out on top 42-40. Then on January 31, they defeated Taylorville Sr. 66-43. The Pioneer’s next game is Thursday February 5 against Limestone Community at 3:30 p.m.
Central Catholic kept busy this week and continued their win streak, going 3-0. The Saints took down Unity in a heavily one sided matchup on January 27 by a score of 64-18. On January 30 it was more of the same, winning 55-11 over St. Thomas Moore. The Saints then defeated Sullivan 68-56 on January 31. Their next game is February 3 against Illinois Valley Central at 7 p.m.
Bloomington went 1-1 this week in two different stories of a game. On January 30 against Normal Community the Purple Raiders lost 48-33. But then on January 31 they came back and defeated Jacksonville by a whopping score of 57-24. The Purple Raiders next game is February 3 against Peoria Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m.
Normal West had a stellar slate of games this week, going 3-1. The Wildcats fell to Morton 51-33 on January 27. Then on January 29 they defeated Limestone 50-40. In the next game on January 30 they took down Peoria 55-34. The Wildcats finished the week defeating Sacred Heart-Griffin 65-39 on February 2. Their next game is February 6 against Manual at 5:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball
Normal Community had a so-so week, going 1-1. The Iron defeated Bloomington High School 80-61 on January 30. Then on January 31, they lost to East Peoria 53-35. The Iron’s next game is February 3 against Danville at 7:30 p.m.
UHigh is one of the hottest teams in Illinois right now. They continued their 10 game win streak, going 2-0 this week. The Pioneers defeated La Salle-Peru convincingly 75-47 on January 27. Then on January 31, they defeated Beecher 65-36. The Pioneers next game is February 3 against Sacred Heart Griffin at 3:30 p.m.
Central Catholic had a fairly successful week, going 2-1. The Saints started the week with a loss against Unity 66-52 on January 27. On January 30, they bounced back against St. Thomas Moore with a 87-71 win. Then on January 31 the Saints took down Staunton 67-62. Their next game is Tuesday February 3 against Illinois Valley Central at 7 p.m.
Bloomington had some tough matchups this week, going 1-2. The Purple Raiders fell to Mahomet Seymour 65-55 on January 27. Then against Normal Community on January 30 they lost 80-61. But the Purple Raiders ended on a high note on February 2, defeated Rantoul 58-42. Their next game is February 3 against Peoria Notre Dame at 7 p.m.
Normal West had two games this week where they went 1-1. The Wildcats fell to Peoria on January 30 65-50. Then on January 31 they defeated Washington in a close one 57-53. The Wildcats next game is February 3 against Galesburg at 7 p.m.
