IHSA Boys and Girls Basketball Recap February 17th

NORMAL, Ill.-As the regular season is coming to a close, it’s time to show up and show out for the teams in Bloomington/Normal
Girls Basketball
Normal Community has had a long week of rest preparing for IHSA regionals. The Iron have had a season of ups and downs, sitting at a record of 15-16. Their next game is February 17th in the Moline IHSA regional against Minooka High School.
UHigh had only one game this week. The Pioneers fell to Glenwood 38-24 on February 10, decreasing their overall record to 16-14. Their next game is February 17 in the IHSA regional against El Paso Gridley at 7:30 p.m.
Central Catholic lost their one game this week, making their record 15-12 heading into regionals. The Saints lost to Eureka 47-42 on February 12. Their first regional game was Monday, February 16 against St. Theresa where the Saints won 44-30. The Saints will take on Tri Valley in the next round Thursday at 7 p.m.
Bloomington saw victory in their one game this week, improving their record to 10-18. The Purple Raiders defeated Centennial 67-45 on February 10. Their next game is against Danville on February 17 at 7 p.m.
Normal West continued their great season and now five game win streak, improving their record to 22-8. The Wildcats took down Peoria Notre Dame in a close one 43-40 on February 10. Their next game is February 17 against Urbana at 6 p.m.
Boys Basketball
Normal Community had a deflating week starting with a win but ending with two tough losses, bringing their record to 23-7. The Ironmen took down Pekin 68-34 on February 10. Then on February 14, they lost a close one to Alton 56-51. The Ironmen finished the week with a loss against Cardinal Ritter 58-47. Their next game is Friday, February 20 against Normal West at 7 p.m.
UHigh is the hottest team in the area right now by a landslide, now holding a 15 game win streak and a record of 25-4. The Pioneers defeated Dunlap 52-36 on February 10. They then took down Fieldcrest 68-46 on February 14. The Pioneers next game is February 17 against Tolono Unity at 7 p.m.
Central Catholic had three games this week, defeating St. Joseph Ogden and Hamilton. A more defiant win came when the Saints defeated Rantoul 61-57 on February 10. Their record now sits at 16-12. The Saints next game is February 17 against Meridian at 7:30 p.m.
Bloomington had two games this week and went 0-2, making their overall record 10-19. The Purple Raiders fell to Centennial 68-50 on February 10. Then on February 14, they lost 65-34 against Wheaton North. The Purple Raiders next game is February 25 against Champaign Central at 7:30 p.m.
Normal West went 0-1 this week and their record falls to 7-19 on the season. The Wildcats lost to Peoria Notre Dame 56-54 on February 10. Their next game is February 20 against Normal Community at 7 p.m.
