IHSA Boys and Girls Basketball 1/20/26 Recap

NORMAL, Ill.-The IHSA basketball teams in Bloomington/Normal saw a lot of action this week. Here is the full breakdown:
Girls Basketball
Normal Community has had a busy couple of days. On Tuesday January 13, the Iron defeated Centennial 60-36. Then on Friday January 16, they beat Normal West 45-37. The Iron lost their next game against Moline 56-40 on January 17. On January 19, they defeated Limestone 51-32. The Iron’s next game is January 23 against Peoria Manual at 6 p.m.
UHigh had two games last week where they split 1-1. On January 14, the Pioneers lost 46-44 to Macarthur. Then, on January 17, they bounced back against Decatur Eisenhower in dominant fashion 55-20. The Pioneers next game is January 22 against Mahomet-Seymour at 3:30 p.m.
Central Catholic’s struggles continue this season, going 1-1 on the week. On January 13, the Saints lost to St. Joseph Ogden 68-64. But on January 16, they bounced back with a 65-46 victory over Prairie Central. The Saints next game is Tuesday, January 20 against Paxton Buckley Loda at 7 p.m.
Bloomington went 2-1 this week in their three games. On January 13, the Purple Raiders fell to Richwoods 66-30. Then on January 15, they defeated Urbana 54-25. They then took down East Peoria 49-37 on January 19. The Purple Raiders next game is against Macarthur on January 21 at 7 p.m.
Normal West went 1-2 this week. On January 13, the Wildcats defeated Champaign central 63-40. Then on January 16, they fell to Normal Community 45-37. On January 19, they fell to Washington 55-24. The Wildcats next game is January 23 against Bloomington at 5:30 p.m.
Boys Basketball
Normal Community played 5 games last week. The Ironmen began their stretch on January 13 with a win over Centennial 82-69. The next day they defeated South Elgin 65-36. On Saturday, January 17, the Ironmen fell to Neuqua Valley 96-74. In their next game on January 19, they defeated Rockford Jefferson 80-57. Then in their most recent game on the 19, the Ironmen defeated Waubonsie Valley 67-54. The Ironmen’s next game is Friday, January 23 against Peoria Manual at 7:30 p.m.
UHigh’s hot streak continued this week with four wins. On January 13, the Pioneers defeated Decatur Eisenhower 61-52. Then on January 16, they took down Lincoln 56-37. The Pioneers defeated Central Catholic 67-57 on January 17. To top off the week, they beat Central Catholic again 63-36 on January 19. The Pioneers next game against Central Catholic on Saturday, January 24 at 7 p.m.
Central Catholic went 2-2 in their four game stretch this week. On January 13, the Saints fell to Clinton Community 62-55. Then on January 15, they beat Prairie Central in a close one 56-55. The Saints participated in the MLK challenge, where they 54-33 on January 17, and lost 61-60 on January 19. The Saints next game is Tuesday, January 20 against Paxton Buckley Loda at 7.pm.
Bloomington had 3 games this week, where they went 1-2. On January 13, the Purple Raiders fell to Richwoods 54-50. Then on January 15, they lost 79-71 to Urbana. On January 17, they defeated Pekin 64-52. The Purple Raiders next game is against Lincoln on Tuesday, January 20 at 7 p.m.
Normal West went 2-0 in their limited action this week. On January 13, the Wildcats defeated Champaign Central 54-37. Then on January 17, they defeated Orion 56-54. The Wildcats next game is on January 20 against Mt. Zion at 7 p.m.
