NORMAL, Ill. – Dean of the Mennonite College of Nursing Judy Neubrander has been named as a fellow for the American Council on Education (ACE.)

Neubrander will be given the task of going to different institutions to learn skills that she will be able to bring back to Illinois State University as she begins her eight year of teaching. She is one of the 36 fellow members that were selected for this academic school year. She expressed great excitement for the opportunity.

“Being an ACE member is a wonderful honor and it will bring recognition to Illinois State University by our faculty by hosting a ACE member,” she said.

With going to these institutions, Neubrander spoke on her set of goals in mind to make the most of her experience.

She said, “My goals for the ACE fellowship are to learn more about higher ed administration, to learn more about budgeting and finance and to learn more about navigating institutional change.”

The ACE fellowship will allow Neubrander and the other fellows into a world where they are able to take a second look into different institutions to bring information back to their prospective universities. She talked about how unique her experience is.

She said, “There is a lot of things happening with in the college of nursing, and this will help me learn how to position ourselves as a college in both the State of Illinois and the United States as a leader in nursing education.”

Neubrander’s fellowship will conclude at the end of the 2023-24 school year.
