NORMAL – Illinois State University’s Alumni Engagement hosted “Cook with a Redbird Chef: Teen Edition” on Tuesday evening with Executive Chef Matt Horton.
Due to popular demand, Illinois State University’s Alumni Engagement brought back the “Cook with a Redbird Chef” event series. Horton taught participating teens the basics of cooking and gave them a hands-on experience. The menu included quick biscuits, sausage gravy, mini egg quiches, and citrus fruit salad.
The event started with a demonstration by Horton and continued with the guests creating their own meals. Towards the end, containers were provided so the participants could take their meals home and enjoy them with their family. The event gave alumni a chance to engage their children in a campus event and showcase opportunities at ISU that students can participate in.
“We’re trying to engage our alums and their children. One, to showcase the amazing things we have at Illinois State but also to showcase what our students are doing here at the University.”
“Cook with a Redbird Chef” is just one event Alumni Engagement hosts to promote alum involvement at ISU and to work towards greater engagement of alumni’s children.
