NORMAL – Just months after becoming the Governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker is under federal investigation for refusing to pay his taxes.
The investigation arose from the 43rd Governor refusing to pay over $300,000 in property taxes on his Chicago mansion. 18th District Representative Darin LaHood believes that we shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
“Let’s let the U.S. Attorney’s office find where the facts and evidence lead us to,” said LaHood. “I think the fact they have an open investigation, I was surprised by that, but let’s see where the facts and evidence lead the investigation to.”
Earlier this month, Pritzker proposed a fair income tax that would raise taxes to those to make more than $250,000 a year. The primary goal is to fix the unfair tax system so that 97% of households will pay the same or less than what they currently owe.
