Briahna Gray gives Black History Month speech for ISU Speaker Series

NORMAL – The Illinois State Speaker Series hosted Briahna Joy Gray as the annual Black History Month Speaker Tuesday night.
Gray currently works as a senior politics editor at the Intercept. Her work has been featured in The Guardian, New York Magazine, and Rolling Stone among many others.
Gray spoke on the difficulty 2020 presidential candidates will face trying to address progressive issues.
At her talk, Gray also expanded on how to address intersectionality amongst students, the future of the working class, and the importance of students to be politically involved.
“To ask what you believe in, to ask what policies are important to you, to ask what people are important to you. To make sure you’re making voting choices and political choices that support those substantive values.”
