Around 4:20 pm Normal PD and other LE Agencies dealt with an Armed Subject in the area of Veteran’s Parkway and College Avenue. The public was asked to stay away from the area as this was a critical situation.
Normal Police Department responded to the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Parkway Plaza for a report of a disorderly individual, yelling and throwing items at vehicles. Upon arrival officers located a 38 year old male who indicated that he had a gun and would shoot officers.

At approximately 5:08 p.m. the individual was taken into protective custody without injury to himself or officers and transported to an area hospital for medical evaluation. It was determined that the weapon the individual had was a replica handgun. Veterans Parkway was reopened to vehicle traffic a short time later.
