Bloomington-Normal IHSA Week 2 Preview

Normal, Ill.— It was an exciting week one for all five Bloomington-Normal high school football teams as teams prepare for the second edition of “Friday Night Lights” during the 2026 IHSA football season.

Normal Community started their season off on a very positive note, defeating Bloomington High School with a final of 47-4. It was an impressive offensive and defensive showing from the Ironmen as they dominated all facets of the game. They will travel to Manual for their first road test of the year at 7 p.m. tonight. Manual is 0-1 on the year.

Bloomington will try to bounce back after a blowout loss to Normal Community. They will travel to play Urbana in their second conference game of the season. Urbana is coming off a big loss to Centennial, losing 46-6, as the Purple Raiders will look to get back to .500.

Bloomington Central Catholic is coming off a defensive masterclass, shutting out Paxton-Buckley-Moda, by a score of 41-0 on home turf. They will now travel to Illinois Valley Central for their first road contest of the year and second conference game of their young season. The Saints come into week two ranked No. 74 in the state of Illinois following their week one victory. 

Normal West began their season 1-0, beating Glenwood on the road, 35-26. The Wildcats will now travel to Champaign to take on Champaign Central in their first conference game of the year. They will look to begin their conference season 1-0 against the 0-1 Maroons.

Normal University will take on Mahomet-Seymour in their second straight non-conference matchup and second straight road game, before playing their first home game at Hancock Stadium next Friday. The Pioneers began their season 0-1 with a 55-14 loss at Rochelle. They will kick off at 7 p.m. tonight.
