Bloomington Normal IHSA Football Week 4 Preview

NORMAL, Ill. — Bloomington-Normal IHSA football teams went a combined 3-2 in week three of high school football action as all five teams in the area will look to add to their win columns Friday night.

Bloomington Central Catholic had their undefeated season come to an end after losing to Tolono Unity last week. The Saints now look to bounce back against Rantoul, which are 0-3 to begin the season, on the road. Central Catholic has put up 101 points on offense the first 3 weeks of the season.

Bloomington High School looks to make it three straight victories after their 0-1 start to the season. The Purple Raiders will take on rival Normal West on Friday night in a highly anticipated conference matchup. Bloomington have allowed zero points in their last two games as they hit the road to take on the Wildcats. 

University High School, are now 0-3 on year after a 41-0 loss at home against Glenwood, will travel to Galesburg for a non-conference matchup. U High has allowed 159 points in just three games this year as they will try to get in the win column in week four.

Normal West will face off against Bloomington High School and look to build on their 3-0 start to the year. The Wildcats are ranked number 87 in the state of Illinois after their win against Centennial. Normal West has put up 129 points while allowing only 52 during its strong start.

Normal Community High School will look to improve its record to 4-0 Friday night against Peoria Notre Dame. The Ironman have beaten their first three opponents handily, outscoring them 153-24. This is a home conference game for the Ironmen. Head coach Jason Drengwitz thinks the Ironmen defense has their work cut out for them against Peoria Notre Dame.

“(Peoria Notre Dame) are extremely well-coached and they’ve got size and big skilled players that are good with the ball in their hands and they’re physical.”

It should be another exciting week of IHSA football in Bloomington-Normal including a local rivalry matchup between Normal West and Bloomington.
