NORMAL – Redbird men’s basketball announced the addition of Alex Kotov for the upcoming season.
The Moscow, Russia native previously played at Palm Beach State for one season and suffered a season-ending injury two games after he transferred to Daytona State.
“I’m so excited to add Alex to the family,” said Muller. “Alex played for a terrific coach in junior college in Martin McCann, and a terrific coach at Montverde under Kevin Boyle. Alex is a competitor who loves the game of basketball, and I believe his future is very bright on and off the court as a Redbird.”
Kotov put up over 6 points and 5 rebounds per game in his only season with Palm Beach State. He scored on double-figures six times and had three games with 10+ rebounds.
During his 2017-2018 high school season, Kotov helped Montverde Academy to an undefeated season that resulted in a national championship. Seven of his teammates have continued their playing careers at the Division I level including former Duke standout and NBA player R.J. Barrett.
Kotov has three seasons of eligibility remaining with ISU and is one of five newcomers on the team.
