Battle of two ISU schools cap off Homecoming Week

Written by on October 25, 2019

NORMAL – One thing’s for certain: ISU is going to win this football match.

The Illinois State Redbirds look to make it 3 consecutive MVFC wins as they welcome the Indiana State Sycamores to Hancock Stadium this weekend for their annual Homecoming Game.

Head Coach Brock Spack said he’s pleased with how I-S-U celebrates this tradition.

“You know Homecoming is always on a college campus kind of an exciting time and welcome the alums back,”said Coach Spack. “But like I said before here in the past, I don’t I’ve ever seen a place do Homecoming as good as Illinois State does.”

ISU won their homecoming game last year against SIU 51-3, which lead to Coach Spack shaving his infamous stache off.

The Redbirds also fell to the Sycamores last season in Terre Haute 23-28. Illinois State is looking to turn things around as Indiana State has won 2 of the last 3 match-ups.

The Redbird defense looks to have a repeat performance of last week after forcing a season-high 5 turnovers. The Sycamores on the other hand turned the ball over 4 times last week, the most in a game this season. ISU’s defense leads the FCS with 33 sacks, and is second in sacks per game with 4.71.

WZND will have a live broadcast of Saturday’s game beginning Saturday afternoon at 1:50.
