NORMAL – This past Saturday, February 23rd was the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Great Lakes Quarterfinals held at Illinois State University. Three of ISU’s a capella groups were competing this time around: Secondary Dominance, Clef Hangers and On The Brink of Normal. This quarterfinal was also On The Brink of Normal’s very first performance.
The top two groups at this competition were given the chance to move onto the ICCA semifinals on March 16th in Chicago. The ISU Clef Hangers were awarded second place, and Fundamentally Sound was awarded first place. Fundamentally Sound President Erik Schumacher was incredibly happy with his group’s performance at this event.
“We’re incredibly excited,” said Schumacher “putting in so much work and being able to present in front of everyone is such and invigorating feeling.”
Schumacher went on to explain why his group values the experience of ICCA, and why they continue to compete every year.
“The reason why we do ICCA every year is to meet and connect with the other groups. Honestly, being able to watch everyone else’s set and talk to them is our favorite part of the whole event.”
