NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois state soccer seeks history this weekend against the Northern Iowa Panthers, chasing its longest winning streak since 2016.

The Redbirds are rolling and are now looking to win six consecutive games for the first time since their historic 2016 season.

The team currently sits at 7-1-3 after an amazing 2-0 win at UIC last Sunday. The victory marked the team’s 5th straight win in what was an all-around team effort, with goals coming from Ava Watson and Sosi Dadekian.

The Panthers have a revamped roster this season with 10 new transfers and nine incoming freshman which currently see them at a 2-8-1 record. After a win last week Versus Belmont, they look to carry that momentum into their matchup with rolling Redbirds.

In recent history the teams sit dead even at 4-4-2 in their last 10 matchups since 2018. The last time these two teams faced off, the Redbirds reigned victorious, edging out the Panthers 1-0 at the UNI soccer field.

All eyes turn towards Madi Valenti, who has been nothing short of magnificent this season as she looks to continue her hot form of clean sheets. Valenti will be matched up against UNI midfielder Ella Ubben, who has scored in two of her last five games.

The game kicks off Sunday, October 4th, at 1 p.m. at Adelaide Street Field
