Crime Report 9/21-9/25

As classes have ramped up for Illinois State University students, so has the prevalence of crime in the area.  

On Monday, September 21, at 4:23 p.m., Bloomington police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Valley View Circle for a report of shots fired. 

No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of this incident.  

On Tuesday, September 22, at 11:07 p.m., Bloomington police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Valley View Circle for multiple reports of shots fired.  

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the possible suspect and placed him into custody after the 16-year-old male attempted to flee on foot.  

Officers located evidence of gunfire in the area, including property damage to nearby apartment buildings.

Chief Jamal Simington updated and assured the community in a statement. 

“Our detectives are working diligently to fact find and thoroughly investigate this matter,” he said. “I am thankful no one was struck as a result of the gunfire.” 

This past week, there were also reports of domestic battery, fraudulent identification, illegal possession of substances and failure to remain at the scene of a vehicle damage accident.
