IHSA Football Week Six Preview

Normal, Ill. — Bloomington-Normal IHSA football teams went a combined 4-1 in week five. All five teams in the area look to add wins in their week six matchups.
Normal Community High School is now 5-0 after beating Champaign Central 41-7. The Ironmen will take on Peoria High School at home in week six as they look to build on their unbeaten record and keep their unbeaten streak alive. The Ironmen have scored 250 points through their five weeks.
Normal University High School look to tally their first win of the year coming off another loss to MacArthur 28-6. They host Lincoln High School, with the Railsplitters entering the week with a 1-4 record. The Pioneer defense looks to step it up, having allowed 244 points this season. Head Coach Brody Walworth spoke on his desire to see his team get off to quick start in week six.
“When you don’t have a win, it can be easy to be discouraged when things go wrong early,” said Walworth. “Being able to start well is huge to build some confidence so you can go out there and continue to execute well for four quarters.”
Normal West High School is now 5-0 after beating Peoria Notre Dame 41-13. The Wildcats take on 0-4 Urbana at home. The Wildcats are ranked 73rd in the state of Illinois and will look to add to their impressive record.
Bloomington Central Catholic, who are now 4-1 after beating Monticello 33-20. Take on St. Teresa in a road contest. The Saints rank second in their conference and are ranked 106 in the state. BCCHS are currently on a two-game win streak.
Bloomington High School is now 3-2 after beating Richwoods 42-41 last week in an extremely close matchup. The Purple Raiders will hit the road tonight to take on Centennial in a conference matchup. Bloomington has scored 141 points while allowing 132 this year.
It is yet another exciting week for high school football in the Bloomington-Normal area, with several highly anticipated matchups scheduled for tonight.
