SAINT CHARLES, Mo.– Illinois State women’s soccer has begun its 2026 campaign by winning its first two games for the first time since 2014 following a tight 1-0 victory over the Lindenwood Tigers Thursday evening at Hunter Stadium.
Sophomore forward Rylann Law scored the lone goal of the match in the 19th minute with a clinical finish into the bottom left-hand corner. Graduate student midfielder Sammi Cenek assisted her. Law has now scored 2 goals in 2 games to begin the season.
After the goal, Lindenwood would have most of the possession and put ISU under pressure. Despite the many chances going the way of the Tigers, the ISU backline held firm to make sure the hosts never got onto the scoresheet.
Lindenwood edged out Illinois State 9-8 for shots, but only managed to put two on target; the Redbirds put five shots on targets. ISU graduate student goalkeeper Madi Velenti saved two shots from the Tigers.
Illinois State soccer returns to Adelaide Street Field Sunday at 6pm. They will take on UT Martin.
