Normal Town Council approves new budget

NORMAL, Ill. – The Normal Town Council approved its new budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year at its meeting on Monday.
The budget was announced and publicly posted at the council’s March 5 meeting, giving the public time to review and comment. It received no public comment at the meeting.
The council also approved updates to the zoning code, which it said: “enhance clarity, modernize terminology and bring the code into better alignment with zoning code interpretation, zoning variances and the direction of town policy.”
In other business, the council reapproved an agreement with Bloomington regarding revenue sharing, renewed all existing liquor licenses in town and approved a new liquor license for the Courtyard Inn on Greenbriar Drive.
As part of the omnibus agenda at the start of the meeting, the council approved funding for the Ecology Action Center to deliver stormwater education services, with matching funds from Bloomington. The agenda also allocated $1.5 million to resurface local roads using funds from the Motor Fuel Tax.
All members were in attendance except Councilman Rory Roberge.
The council’s next meeting will be April 6 at 7 p.m.
