NORMAL, Ill. – The Bloomington Bison suffered a tough home loss against the Cincinnati Cyclones at Grossinger Motor Arena.

The Bison came off a dominant 3-0 win over the Toledo Walleye on Sunday.  Both teams came out firing in the first period, each getting double digit shots on goal.

Bison goalie Dryden McKay managed to save 12-13, but Cincinnati managed to find the net at 12:42 in the first.

The Bison had control to end the period and managed a couple of shots but were unsuccessful in scoring.  The Cyclones set the tone for the second period scoring after just under a minute and a half, and 4 minutes later they scored again, increasing their lead to 3-0.

After getting several shots off, Bloomington finally got on the board with a goal from Shane Ott.

The second period ended with a fight as defender Brenden Datema and Cyclone Nick Rhéaume were both called for a major penalty. Despite looking to come back and win in the final period, the Bison’s hopes were shut down quickly.  The Cyclones scored at 6:28, and then just eight seconds later scored the final goal of the match, making it 5-1.

The Bison’s leading scorer Eddie Matsushima led the team in shots with five but was unable to find the back of the net.  McKay, who has a save percentage of 92% over the season, only managed to save 82% on Friday.

The Bison play back-to-back games in Bloomington, both against the Indy Fuel, on January 24th and 25th.
