NORMAL, Ill.- The Bloomington Bison failed to find the back of the net Friday night, falling 5–0 to the Indy Fuel at the Fishers Event Center despite a strong effort from their penalty kill.

The Fuel were looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to Bloomington and made sure to be in control of the contest from puck drop.

Indy opened the scoring midway through the first period on a deflection in front of the net and controlled the offensive zone, outshooting the Bison 11-3 in the opening frame.

With not even three minutes expired in the second period, a costly hooking penalty for the Bison saw the Fuel extend their lead on the ensuing power play on another deflection that found the back of Callum Tung’s net.

After a Bloomington neutral zone pinch just minutes later, a 2-on-1 rush for Indy gave them a 3-0 lead.

While the Bison started to come out of their slump to end the second period, the final punch of the stanza belonged to the Fuel, who took a 4-0 advantage into the final intermission.

Bloomington goalie Callum Tung finished the contest with 19 saves on 23 shots before being replaced by Hugo Ollas to open the final frame.

Ollas stopped nine of 10 Indy shots upon entering in relief, with Indy’s final score coming from another odd-man rush early in the third.

The Bison were able to generate some good looks down the stretch with their top line of Eddie Matsushima, Chongmin Lee and Noah Kane but were unable to convert before a flurry of penalties for both sides slowed down the contest to close it out, with the Fuel outshooting the Bison 33-14.
