Redbird Men’s Tennis Invite Results, Women’s Tennis Forecast

NORMAL, Ill. -Illinois State Men’s Tennis headed to Dekalb to face Northern Illinois over the weekend. On the first day of the River Forest Collegiate Invite the Redbirds advanced to the finals in four of the seven single draws. Sophomore pair Christian Capacci and Manuel Pavia picked up a 6-4 victory while Senior pair Tin Ostro and Caden Scarlett won 6-1 over WU.

The final win on the day went to Senior Jett Leong and Sophomore Finn Logue who earned themselves a 6-3 win. In singles, Senior Tomas Valencia and Senior Adrian Dibildox advanced to the championship round. In draw Pavia defeated Alex Yeager before dropping his second round matchup.

On day two of the invite, Valenica defeated Alessandro Hernandez  of DU with a score of 6-3. While in draw no. three , Capacci defeated Jeremy Sieben of WU with a score of 2-6. Lastly, to cap off the championsips for Illinois State Ostro beat Luke Coppage (MU) 6-4 and in draw no. four took home a win. Pavia and Scarlett picked up match wins and earned themselves third place. Adan Tarquino of DU feel short of Senior Leong to take fifth place in that match. Dibildox took second place in the draw no. two. In doubles, Valencia/Dibidox took a win over the UIC pair with a score of 6-3.

Next matchup for Illinois State is on October 3rd for the Redbird Invitational in Normal.

Next weekend, Illinois State Women’s Tennis will be hosting their annual Redbird Duals at Gregory Street Tennis Courts. Redbirds are coming off a 14-8 record while being 6-2 in conference.

Going into the 2025-2026 season the Redbirds have three Seniors that have contributed to there success in the past. Lana Caculovic went 5-14 overall but was 4-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. In February of 2025, Caculovic was named MVC Doubles Pair of the Week alongside fellow Senior Silvia Pomarolli. Pomarolli was named to the All-MVC First Team last year as she finished 10-8 in singles and 11-7 in doubles last year. While Nuria Sanz ended her 2024-2025 season with a 9-5 overall record while going 4-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
