Man’s Best Friend – Sabrina Carpenter
Rosie Chappell

Sabrina Carpenter is a singer-songwriter from Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She currently has
68.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Carpenter’s new album, Man’s Best Friend, released
on August 29, 2025. The album contains 12 tracks and has a running time of 38 minutes.
Before the album was released, Sabrina Carpenter gave fans a tease of what was to come by
dropping the song “Manchild” as a single back in June. “Manchild” is about a specific genre of
men who are incompetent and treat their partners like their mothers. The song has a catchy,
upbeat instrumental that really supports Carpenter’s vocals and leaves the song stuck in your
head.
“Tears” is the main track on this album, and I just can’t get enough of it. While the song
expresses Carpenter’s love of men who do the bare minimum like washing the dishes without
being asked, the instrumentals just itch the right spot in my brain. The beat is a little funky while
having that pop feel to it.
One of my favorite tracks off the album has got to be “House Tour.” While the lyrics have many
metaphors within them, the instrumental reminds me of pop songs from the 80s. It’s such an
upbeat and catchy song that there is even already a TikTok dance to this song.
Another favorite of mine is “Sugar Talking.” This song just feels like classic Sabrina Carpenter.
The instrumentals really take me back to some of her earlier stuff. The song itself is about giving
your partner another chance and that their “sweet” talk isn’t gonna work this time.
“Goodbye” is also a favorite of mine. The song is about an ex trying to win her back after a
breakup, but Carpenter stands on business. The lyrics, “Arrivederci, au revoir,” reminded me of
when the characters say that in the movie 13 Going On 30 which I thought was an interesting
call back.
Overall, this is definitely one of my favorite Sabrina Carpenter albums, and I’ve been a
Sabrina fan for a long time now. I feel that the album is highly relatable, especially since
Carpenter and I are both girls in our 20s. I highly recommend listening to this album
from start to finish in order to get the full experience.
