Redbird Soccer Wins One, Then Drops One: Week Recap

NORMAL, Ill- Illinois State Soccer got a win Thursday evening at home against IU-Indy and had a tough loss against Loyola-Chicago Sunday afternoon. The Redbirds three game winning streak came to an end in a close matchup on Sunday.

The Redbirds looked to continue their streak on Thursday night and that is exactly what they did, getting a 2-0 win over the Jaguars of IU-Indy. ISU got their first goal from Rylann Law in the 31st minute which was assisted by Chloe Cline and Sammi Cenek. The goal was Law’s team leading 4th of the year. The Redbirds would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

ISU came out of the break with a lot of possession time and they were eventually awarded with a goal after Rylann Law scored yet again. The goal came in the 62nd minute and was unassisted. Law continues her stellar start to the season with 5 goals in just 8 games.

Loyola-Chicago came into town on Sunday looking to end the Redbirds winning streak and that is what they did, securing a 1-0 win. The lone goal came late in the 71st minute in a close and competitive match.

ISU closes out their week winning one and losing one making their record 3-4-1 on the season. The Redbirds next match will be Thursday night at home against Eastern Illinois.
