Bloomington welcomes newest coffee shop: Jasper’s Java

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Jasper’s Java, Bloomington’s newest coffee shop, will have a grand opening on Saturday, October 14th.  Melissa Livesay, one of the owners, had some information to say about the background of the coffee shop. 

Livesay said, “The grand opening will include food trucks, live music and local animal shelters for donations.”

Livesay’s dog, Jasper, who is a Bernese Mountain Dog was adopted from a shelter, is a huge part of this business.  When customers purchase The Jasper, the signature drink, a portion of proceeds go to local animal shelters.  This drink is an Iced Latte that has sea salt caramel toffee with a honey cold foam on top.  

Their mission statement is to spread joy and help people and pets find their forever families through delicious drinks.

“We want to spread joy,” Livesay said. Coffee is definitely something that brings a lot of happiness to people and gives you that pick up throughout the day.  We think that’s very important and want to put that out in the world.” 

She elaborated on the unique set-up to the shop and how customers can order compared to a traditional coffee shops.

Livesay said, “We want customers to know that the stand-alone is double-sided.  You can order at both windows meaning you don’t have to pull around.  We do the full order including making the drink, purchasing and handing it out all at the same window”.  

Construction on-site began a month ago and the shop sits at 1601 General Electric Road.
