NORMAL, Ill.- The Normal Community High School football team is off to a 5-0 start to the year. With the last four games of the season approaching, Coach Jason Drengwitz had the chance to comment on the Ironmen’s hot start.

“We have a lot to prove.” Drengwitz said, “we need to play to a certain level to be successful.”

The Ironmen have yet to lose a game this season. Following last year’s one-point loss to Pekin in the playoffs, they are ready to prove they can compete with anyone. Drengwitz has been the head coach of Normal Community since 2018. Prior to being named Head Coach, Drengwitz was an assistant for 14 years.

“We feel that we are a relationship-based program here at Normal Community, developing these young men as not only as football players.” Drengwitz said, “we have great families in this community- players who want to be here and work hard.”

“We really were able to work hard in the weight room and then later on the field.”

The offseason work has really paid off for the Ironmen so far. With four games left in the regular season, Coach Drengwitz and his team are not looking too far ahead.

“We take it one week at a time.” Drengwitz said, “the focus for us this week is Danville.”

The Ironmen will travel to Peoria Friday night to take on Danville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
