NORMAL, Ill. – Heartland Community College (HCC) filled a much needed void last month by hiring Kelly Pyle as Dean of Health Sciences.

Pyle steps into her new position with two years of experience under her belt serving as Associate Dean of Health Sciences.

“I was in the role of the Associate Dean in 2019,” said Pyle. “When the Dean position opened, I was filling it on an interim basis, and then went through the process to be hired in that position.”

For Pyle’s new position, the work has just begun. Pyle is committed to growing the health sciences division and working towards expanding support and care for students attending Heartland Community College.

“Right now health sciences is really exciting,” said Pyle. “So some of the things are my goals is that we will be able to extend our program offerings, expand the number of students that are going into healthcare programs and to be able to give them support so they can complete their program and complete their program and get into healthcare.”

After making her way from Illinois State University to HCC Pyle feels that she has not just found a great place to work, but has found a home.

“Heartland is a really amazing institution,” said Pyle. “I appreciate how welcoming and opening it is for our students. There is a lot of opportunities for the students to be engaged and be supported. It really is a wonderful institution for our community to help get individuals into the workforce and get them the skills that they need and to keep them in our communities.”

Pyle is excited to get to work to help benefit the community and students at HCC, she hopes to remain in the position for as long as she can.

“I would be happy to stay in this role for as long as they will have me. I love the faculty that I work with and I think they are all really committed to students being successful,” said Pyle.
