Normal hosts egg hunt for local children

Written by on April 10, 2023

NORMAL, Ill. – The Town of Normal area held free an Easter Egg Hunt event on April 1.

The Town of Normal and the Normal Cornbelters worked in collaboration to make this event possible.

Easter eggs, games, and prizes will be provided at the Town of Normal’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

“We usually have games, prizes, and a wheel, but this year, we did pictures with the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt. We weren’t able to play games due to the high winds,” Razo added.

The day began at 11:00 a.m. with Easter games for children ages 2-10 years. The Easter Bunny was in attendance for photos, encouragement, and to help with the hunt until 12:30 p.m. All children were required to bring their own Easter baskets to the event.

Aquatics and Special Events Supervisor for the Normal Parks and Recreation Department, Hanna Razo, was “pleasantly surprised with the outcome of just over 850 participants.”

She acknowledged the not-so “great weather going into Saturday,” which resulted in fewer attendees.

“This event typically sees thousands of people,” said Razo. “2019 was the first one that I did with the town, and we had 2,800 people come.”

The annual Easter Egg Hunt was at the Champion Fields in Normal, where the event will be held around the same time next year.

“It was definitely worth having despite the weather conditions,” says Razo.
